The process of teaching English as a foreign language has experienced significant transformations during the last several decades. Traditional teacher-centered instruction has gradually been replaced by learner-centered methodologies that emphasize communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and the practical use of language in real-life contexts. This article examines modern methodologies in English language teaching (ELT), including the Communicative Language Teaching approach, Task-Based Language Teaching, the Direct Method, blended learning, and technology-assisted instruction. Furthermore, the article analyzes the advantages and challenges of implementing these methodologies in contemporary educational environments. The study also highlights the importance of motivation, classroom interaction, and teacher professionalism in successful language acquisition. The findings suggest that innovative methodologies significantly improve learners’ communicative competence, motivation, and academic achievement when appropriately integrated into the educational process.
